Albany police are continuing their investigation into an officer-involved shooting that left a man seriously injured.
The incident started Monday when someone at a residence on Morris Street called 911 and reported an armed home invasion. Moments later, officers spotted a man on New Scotland Avenue and when they got near him, they saw him threatening a dog with a knife. They asked the man to drop the knife, but he ran towards the officers which led to one of them opening fire. The man, later identified as 32-year-old Jordan Young, was rushed to Albany Medical Center. Chief Eric Hawkins says video footage of the encounter showed the use of force by police was unavoidable. There is no word if Young was connected to the home invasion call.
