The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to residents about an ongoing phone scam.
The agency says the caller claims to be from the sheriff's department and tells the person there's a warrant for their arrest. Police say they would never contact someone this way about an active warrant and say the scammer is likely trying to get people to disclose their personal information. Anyone who gets a call like this should hang up immediately.
