Novelty Prop Bets To Have Fun With

Part of the fun of Super Bowl wagering are the bets that have very little to do with the action on the field.

  • Coin Toss (Outcome) – Whether you call “heads” or “tails,” the odds are the same at -105. This is a bet for people who just want something to bet on, and have money to throw around. If you’re looking for stats, “tails” leads “heads” 29-26” throughout Super Bowl history.
  • Coin Toss (Winner) – It’s the same basic scenario stated earlier. The Rams and Bengals are each going at -105…and it’s a 50/50 shot.
  • (BEST BET) Color of Gatorade Dumped on Winning Coach – While there are many colors and varieties to choose from, there are only three choices that really matter here. The Bengals primary color is orange (+200) and the Rams is blue (+400). Lay a few bucks on both and cover your bet. However, the smartest play is NONE (+350) because it’s been done to death and the victors will be paying more attention to celebrating for real. Either way, betting on Yellow/Green (+450), Red/Pink (+600), or Purple (+1,000) is a waste of cash. <<<
  • (BEST BET) Length of the National Anthem (95 seconds) – I’m really liking the over on this one. Set at 95 seconds (-130), it feels shockingly low. Especially considering how many times the “Star Spangled Banner” went over two minutes the last few years.<<<
  • Who Will the MVP Refer To First? – Conventional logic says teammates (-125) and God (+225) have the upper hand. But consider this, the Bengals haven’t won a Super Bowl and it had been 31 years since they’d even won a playoff game. IF they pull off the win, it would be worth the +750 to whoever the MVP is to send an immediate shout-out to Cincinnati.
  • First Anheuser-Busch Brand Commercial Shown During The Game? – The key word here is “during.” So, if it happens immediately before kickoff…it doesn’t count. Budweiser at +170 is the smart play here, but hedging your bet with Bud Light at +200 isn’t a bad move.
  • First Headlining Artist to Be Shown At Halftime? – Snoop Dogg at +275 feels right among a crew that also consists of EminemDreKendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige
