Amazon employees at the company's Schodack warehouse have taken a step towards becoming members of a union.
Organizers of the effort say they've filed a request with the National Labor Relations Board to hold a union election. During a news conference Wednesday, workers claimed they're at risk of being hurt while on the job and that they receive low pay. The NLRB will now check to see if enough signatures have been gathered before an election can be scheduled. In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson says workers have the choice of joining a union but the company doesn't think unions are the best answer for their employees.
