Albany County Executive Dan McCoy has announced the purchase of 5,000 air purifiers that are going to be set up in schools.
The portable air filtration units are part of the county's efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus among students and staff. The cost of each unit was roughly $450, but the county used federal grant money to help pay for them. About 4,100 purifiers will be delivered to public schools with the rest going to charter and private schools.
