Just over 200 newly minted state troopers are ready for duty across New York.
More than 16,000 people applied to join the force but only 218 graduates were in attendance at Wednesday's ceremony in Albany. Governor Hochul addressed the class and thanked them for their commitment to New Yorkers and also vowed to have their backs. Hochul also praised members of law enforcement for their efforts that have resulted in over 8,000 illegal guns being seized statewide since January.
