Union workers are planning to hold a protest outside of the General Electric plant in Schenectady on Tuesday.
Members of IUE-CWA are calling for lower healthcare costs, the elimination of job outsourcing and higher wages. The union contracts for thousands of GE employees are currently set to expire next year and negotiations are expected to begin in the summer. GE says it's going to keep investing in the future of the Schenectady facility, noting the company has already added dozens of manufacturing jobs there this year.
