The 25th annual News Radio 810 & 103.1 WGY and 99.5 The River Cares for Kids Radiothon raised more than $330,000 for the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital according to the Albany Medical Center Foundation.
All funds raised support programs and services provided by the children’s hospital, the only children’s hospital in the region and the local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospital.
“We are so grateful that the 25th anniversary Radiothon was so successful. We are excited that so many people of our region recognize what an important resource we have at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital for sick and injured children and their families right here – close to their homes,” said Barbara E. Ostrov, MD chief of service at the children’s hospital, and chair of the Department of Pediatrics. “Their support, along with the generosity of our sponsors and our devoted iHeartMedia partners, helps us provide excellent care to our infants, children, and adolescents who need us.”
Several staff members, as well as parents and patients who have been treated at the children’s hospital, were interviewed by on-air personalities during the Radiothon May 4 and 5.
Doug Goudie, Rachel Davis, and Joe Gallagher from Radio 810 & 103.1 WGY and Kevin Rush, Tracy Villaume, and Bob Hauer from 99.5 The River hosted.
“iHeartMedia has continued its long-standing partnership with Albany Medical Center and the team at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital to raise funds to support the children treated at the hospital as well as their families,” said iHeartMedia Area President Howard Greiner. “All of us at iHeart love taking part in the Radiothon and we are excited to participate and grateful to our listeners and the community that we have had another successful year.”
