80-Year-Old Colonie Man Faces Child Pornography Charges

It is not often we see an 80-year-old man charged with child pornography.

However, Colonie Police say not only is Thomas Urbano facing two felony charges, they add that he is easily the oldest person they have taken into custody on such allegations.

Colonie Police Lieutenant Robert Winn says the New York State Police got a tip about Urbano sharing images online, and the information was then passed on to Colonie PD.

"We worked together, identified that IP address as a residence here in the Town of Colonie, able to get a search warrant for that residence, and as a result of that search warrant, they did find, the preliminary investigation did find child pornography on his computer."

Winn says there is no evidence that Urbano, a retired printer, had any direct contact with children, and there is also nothing to indicate that any of the images found on his seized computer were those of local kids.

"It is unusual, that is the oldest individual that we've had contact with in regards to a child pornography investigation, but in this case, it may have been going on for quite a while, and finally, he was able to be caught due to a tip that came into the New York State Police."

If anyone has any further information on Urbano or this case, please contact Colonie Police at (518) 783-2744.
