The man accused in last summer's hit and run boat crash on Lake George is scheduled to go to trial next week in Warren County on a variety of charges.

Alexander West's attorney, Cheryl Coleman, has said she plans to seek a change of venue in the case, citing extensive news coverage of the crash, which claimed the life of 9-year-old Charlotte McCue of California, who was visiting relatives in the area.

Coleman says coverage of the incident has been such that a fair trial for her client will be difficult.

In a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, Judge John Hall ruled that an interview between West and sheriff's deputies in the days after the crash will be admissible as evidence.  West was the pilot of the boat that crashed into another, killing the little girl.  The crash came just hours after authorities say West was partying with other boaters in "Log Bay Day."
