A Campaign to Raise Awareness of New York's Move Over Law

A campaign this week from the state to raise awareness of the Move Over Law.

State Police are conducting an enforcement detail on the Thruway for drivers who fail to move over for emergency vehicles, tow trucks, and maintenance vehicles. The Thruway Authority has released a testimonial video featuring a colleague of Ronald Deming, a Thruway Authority worker who was struck by a vehicle and fatally injured while assisting a car along the side of the road last fall.

Message signs are displaying reminders across the state and informational posters are up at Thruway service areas in support of the campaign. On Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thruway Authority staff, State Troopers, and tow truck operators will be handing out flyers and speaking with travelers to promote awareness at service areas along the Thruway, including locally in New Baltimore and Pattersonville.
