Schenectady County is #1 for Crime in New York State

New numbers from the state indicate that Schenectady County had the highest crime rate in New York State in 2016 and Albany County came in at #5.

The State Division of Criminal Justice Services says Schenectady County recorded more than 4,600 "index crimes," ranging from murder to larceny last year.

Other counties in the top 5 included Niagara, New York, and Erie.
