Albany Police Make Arrest After Lark Street Standoff

Albany police have now charged a 43-year-old man with criminal weapons possession following a standoff along Lark Street last night that lasted several hours.

Police received a call about a man, possibly armed, inside an apartment at 191 Lark around 7 p.m.  With a big crowd looking on, police negotiated with David Lester before taking him into custody around 10:45.

No one was hurt.  The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and police say a search of Lester's apartment revealed a loaded handgun.
