The acting police chief in Coeymans says an internal investigation is underway in regards to that viral video that has captured the attention of the social media world.
In it, two police cars are seen running down and eventually killing a raccoon in the middle of a shopping plaza in Ravena.
The State Health Dept. now says the raccoon was, indeed, rabid, and Chief Daniel Contento says his officers acted only with the public's well-being in mind.
Still, many, like Todd Cramer from the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society, don't think this was the best way to handle it.
Cramer says there were options, including humane or chemical traps.
By the way, the town of Coeymans does not have an animal control officer.
