Who Is Austin Bomber Mark Conditt?

A series of blog posts from 2012 are shedding some insight into the mind of Mark Anthony Conditt. Conditt blew himself up after police closed on in on him during their investigation into a series of bombings that left the city of Austin on edge for weeks. The blog posts were from an online class on American government that he took at Austin Community College. In the blog posts, he vehemently supported the death penalty and believed that "homosexuality is not natural" and that gay marriage should be illegal. In one post, Conditt stated his agreement with a Washington Post columnist who opined it would be a mistake to release a senior al-Qaeda terrorist.

Conditt described himself as conservative who was not "politically inclined." He said he enjoyed "cycling, parkour, tennis, reading and listening to music."

Conditt was homeschooled and attended Austin Community College for two years, though he never graduated. He was hired by Crux Semiconductor when he was 19-years-old and worked there until August when he was terminated for not meeting expectations. One staff member described him as "quiet, introverted and reserved."

Police do not currently know his motive for the string of bombings that left two people dead. They are interviewing his two roommates and looking through a "treasure trove" of information that he left behind.
