I usually don't support violence but I have to be honest, I actually loved the Yankees-Red Sox brawl at Fenway last night (Wednesday).
First of all, no one was hurt, as is usually the case in baseball brawls. Secondly, baseball is just better when the Yankees and Red Sox are both good and full of hate toward each other.
The Yankees' Tyler Austin slid into second base last night spikes up (a no-no), angering Brock Holt and the Sox. Predictably, Austin got a 98 mph pitch into his back in the 7th inning, the benches emptied and the fight was on. Thankfully the pitch was nowhere near his head.
Regardless of who you root for, it was rare, high-intensity baseball in April and highly entertaining.
I know two things for sure:
1) The Yankees will retaliate.
2) This should be one helluva battle between these two teams all the way to September...and hopefully into October.
Until then, I'll settle for a series-deciding Game 3 tonight, which you can hear on Fox Sports 980. - Chuck
