Salman Rushdie is finally coming to Albany.
The well-known author is set to speak Thursday at the New York State Writers Institute.
Rushdie was set to come here in 1988 but called off the trip after becoming the target of a fatwa, or a death sentence from the Ayatollah Khomeini over his book "The Satanic Verses," which painted the prophet Mohammed as fallible.
His latest book, "The Golden House," came out last year.
He's scheduled to hold a lecture at the UAlbany uptown campus Thursday afternoon, followed by a Q & A session at 7:30.
By the way, the fatwa remains in place.
