Cuomo Stumps on the Road as Special Election Looms Tuesday

Gov. Andrew Cuomo

Voters in various Assembly and Senate districts will go to the polls in a special election Tuesday that could decide who controls the upper chamber.

While Democrats are expected to take one race in the Bronx, the other, in the lower Hudson Valley, could tip the scales.

And Gov. Cuomo is getting involved.

He's urging people to vote for Democrat Shelley Mayer.

Cuomo campaigned for Mayer on Sunday.

She's facing Republican Julie Killian in Tuesday’s special election.

If she wins, it could lead to a series of events that would tip the Senate in the Democrats' favor.

Voters will also be electing successors to former Assemblymen Pete Lopez and Steve McLaughlin.
