Driver in Rotterdam Crash Charged With DWI

An early Tuesday morning crash in Rotterdam at one of the busiest intersections in Rotterdam, Altamont Avenue and Curry Road, and the 27 year old driver of car charged with DWI.

He smashed into a retaining wall between Gabriel's Supermarket and Dunkin Donuts, the posted speed limit in that area is 35 miles an hour.

Police says they believe the driver of the car, Michael Edwards of Schenectady, was going between 60 and 65 miles an hour, when he crashed.

Rotterdam Police Lt.  Jeffrey Collins says an officer in a squad car did see the speeding car, and was going to give chase.

Edwards and two female passengers airlifted to Albany Medical Center.

They all suffered serious to critical injuries.
