DeFrancisco Drops Out of the Race for Governor of NYS

The race for governor is coming into focus.

State Senator John De Francisco of Syracuse is pulling out of the race.

At first, some observers thought he was the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, but WGY Capitol Correspondent Ken Lovett of the Daily News says in recent days, party leaders have been throwing their support behind Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.

De Francisco's decision leaves Molinaro and businessman Joe Holland as the only two active GOP candidates for Governor.

On the Democratic side, the governor and actress Cynthia Nixon are headed for a primary showdown.
