Plans are moving forward in Glenville for a police firing range, but many who live near the proposed site, next to a former landfill, have some concerns about it.
Billy Bolton says the range would be about 200 to 250 feet from his house.
Supervisor Chris Koetzle says the town is working with neighbors, and plans to buy silencers for the guns, and put up more noise barriers.
But he says officers need a place to practice, and the town is in a position to pay for it now.
The next step, he says, is an environmental review, followed by another public hearing.
He's hoping for final approval in August, with the range to be open by this fall.
