Albany police officials say they've been in contact with State Attorney General Barbara Underwood's office and Albany County DA David Soares following the death of 20 year old Schuyler Lake at the hands of an Albany police officer Friday night.
Acting Chief Robert Sears says Lake was shot and killed at a home on Partridge Street after police arrived and saw him stabbing his mother.
The two officers who responded to the original call, Elston Mackey and Derrick Ellis, are on administrative leave.
Sears says it's clear his officers acted by the book.
The 52 year old woman remains in critical condition at Albany Med.
The 55 year old man identified as Lake's uncle is at Albany Med with stab wounds to his abdomen.
