Last Day on the Job for Acting Albany Police Chief

Robert Sears

It's the last day on the job for Albany's acting police chief.

Robert Sears is retiring Thursday after more than 20 years with the department.

A formal "piping out" ceremony is set for 1 Thursday afternoon at police headquarters on Henry Johnson Boulevard.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan has nominated Southfield, Michigan Police Chief Eric Hawkins to move into the job on a full time basis.

The Common Council has not yet acted on his nomination.
