Off Duty Albany Officer Dies in Motorcycle Crash in Knox

Officer Dean Johnson

An Albany police officer is dead after a motorcycle crash.

Acting Chief Robert Sears says Officer Dean Johnson died Wednesday after a crash in the town of Knox.

Johnson, who joined the department in October, was off-duty at the time.

Investigators say Johnson was thrown from his bike after hitting a vehicle on Knox Cave Road.

The driver wasn’t hurt and the cause is under investigation.

In a statement, Chief Sears called Johnson an exceptional man who was highly regarded who was proving to be an incredible asset.
