Just a couple of weeks after Albany's acting police chief promised more officers on the street, the city has seen an unusually violent couple of days.
One person stabbed to death, and another six shot, four in one incident at First Street and Lexington Avenue.
Department spokesman Steve Smith says there were officers everywhere on the 4th of July, but he says police need something they're not getting right now, cooperation from victims and people from within the community.
Not only that, but there were a couple of incidents in Schenectady in the last day or so.
One man was shot near Cutler Street and 5th Avenue, and a woman says her boyfriend shot at her near the Wendy's on Erie Boulevard.
One man has been arrested in that incident, and is awaiting arraignment.
