As President Trump nominates federal appeals judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Governor Cuomo has signed an executive order guaranteeing Roe V. Wade protections for women in New York State.
That, as a bill on the matter still waits to be voted on in the State Senate.
The governor says State Senate Republicans can't fall back on their usual reason for not passing the bill.
The governor says his order protects a woman's right to choose and to get contraceptive care, and no federal agency can deny them.
He's calling on the State Senate to pass the law which would move abortion out of the criminal code.
