Three Hospitalized in Albany After Suspicious Letter Opened

On Tuesday afternoon, three State workers were taken to the hospital after becoming ill in their Albany office, after one of them opened a letter.

Albany Police Dept. Spokesman Steve Smith says police and fire department officials were called to the Department of State's offices on the floor of One Commerce Plaza, at 99 Washington Avenue, for reports of a suspicious package.

All three were taken to Albany Medical Center.

Haz Mat fire fighters said that the stain on the letter and the letter itself was not dangerous.

The incident has been turned over to the State Police.

Smith says the three people taken to the hospital are going to be all right.
