The bishop of the Albany Roman Catholic diocese is calling for action after sexual abuse allegations against Cardinal Theodore McCarrick.
Edward Scharfenberger wants the church to hold bishops every bit as accountable as anyone for their actions.
McCerrick resigned after a Glens Falls priest spoke out about abuse he'd allegedly suffered at McCerrick's hands thirty years ago.
Pope Francis ordered him to live a life of prayer and penance.
Scharfenberger calls the incident a spiritual crisis, and says the behavior of McCerrick and those he had power over can't be minimalized or rationalized.
McCerrick says he doesn't remember the incident and believes he's innocent.
