Confirmation Process for New Albany Police Chief Starts

Eric Hawkins

Albany Common Council is expected to take up a resolution Monday night confirming Eric Hawkins as the city's new police chief.

Hawkins is coming to Albany from Southfield, Michigan.

He met with reporters last Monday in the mayor's office, and says he's ready to take on the issue of violence in the city's streets.

Hawkins will replace Robert Sears, who served as acting chief following the resignation of Brendan Cox.
