One Last Blast of Heat & Humidity Before Labor Day

Summer's not over yet. 

Temperatures will be on the rise across the Capital Region for the next couple of days. 

The mercury should reach the mid 90's, and heat advisories are in effect for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Forecasters say the heat index at times this week could approach 100.  

The latest AccuWeather forecast:

Monday afternoon: very warm and humid with intervals of clouds and sunshine, high 88.

Monday night: patchy clouds, warm and humid, low 73.

Tuesday: the temperature near the record of 98 and humid with lots of sun, high 94.

Wednesday: partly sunny and hot with the temperature approaching the record of 95 set in 1953, high 93.

Thursday: clouds and sunshine with a shower or thunderstorm around; not as hot but humid, high 84.

Friday: comfortable with clouds and limited sun; heavy rain and a thunderstorm at night, high 78.
