The city of Albany gets a new police chief this week.
Eric Hawkins moves into the position Wednesday, and will take the oath of office on Friday at City Hall.
At his confirmation hearing before Common Council two weeks ago, Hawkins talked about why he was attracted to Albany.
Hawkins has served as chief of the Southfield, Michigan police department since 2012.
That city's mayor, Kenson Siver, recently told us Hawkins is all about communication.
Hawkins replaces Bob Sears, who served as interim chief following the resignation of Brendan Cox.
