Gov. Cuomo is calling on the FBI to investigate videos and reports of violence linked to the far-right political group the "Proud Boys."
Members of the so-called "Western chauvinist group" fought with protesters outside Manhattan's Republican Party headquarters Friday night after vandals sprayed anarchy symbols on the doors of the headquarters earlier in the day.
Cuomo is also directing the State Police Hate Crimes Unit to coordinate with the FBI and NYPD on looking into any incidents around the state connected to the group.
Three men were arrested on robbery and assault charges.
The head of the Metropolitan Republican club says Democrats are trying to exploit the violence for political gain, saying "we are the victims here."
In a conference call with reporters on Sunday, the governor placed responsibility on President Trump, saying once you unleash hate and division, you lose control of it.
