Larger Hourly Wage Wanted by Mohawk Ambulance Workers

Mohawk Ambulance Strike

Mohawk Ambulance workers rally for a bigger hourly wage.

Right now they make $12.51 an hour.

The United Professional Service Employees would like employees to earn at least $15.00 an hour.

Donald Schuttig, who is with the union, says the long hours can create dangerous situations for people who rely on them for emergencies.

Tonya Danish, who works for Mohawk Ambulance, says workers who are out saving lives are having trouble making ends meet, and they have problems paying for *their* health care.

Union officials say there has been no movement on a new contract to replace the one that expired on April 1st.

Mohawk Ambulance says talks have been delayed by the union.
