Another former top state official who's facing prison wants leniency.
Former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos says he's struggling with depression and a drinking problem after a rift with his son, Adam and a separation from his grandsons.
According to court documents, the disintegration of family relationships has had a "negative impact" on the 70-year-old Skelos emotionally and physically.
Attorneys say Skelos' two special-needs grandchildren would suffer from his incarceration, and maintain he's in a position to provide positive contributions to his community.
Skelos and his son are facing a sentencing hearing on the 24th on corruption charges.
