DOT is looking to hire close to 500 maintenance workers in advance of winter.
Applications are available for a total of 470 seasonal and permanent positions across New York State, 70 in the Capital Region, another 43 in the Mohawk Valley.
Physical labor is a must, and those hired will be required to work with backhoes, front end loaders, stump grinders, and other heavy equipment.
Maintenance workers primarily help with ice and snow removal, but also are expected to perform general highway repairs and maintenance.
And, hours can get long when snowflakes start to fly.
