Heading Out for the Holidays, and Weather Could be a Factor

Wednesday is the busiest travel day of the year, and weather conditions could cause more problems than usual this time around.

With near-record cold and high winds in the forecast, AAA says it's ready with 14 of its own trucks, plus dozens of contractors.

Officials say they usually respond to about 15,000 emergency calls statewide over the Thanksgiving week, but that number could grow with spin-outs, crashes, and lots of dead batteries.

Before heading out, they advise everyone to check tires and pack a winter backup case with extra blankets and water.

And above all, be patient.  AAA says they will be busy.

They'll get to you, but they have to prioritize the calls that come in.
