Troy City Council has approved a $73.5 million budget plan for 2019 that contains a little good news and a little bad news for residents.

The not-so-great, a garbage fee that should have expired on December 31st will not only continue, but will increase to $164 for homeowners.

However, council also approved $5 million in bonds to rebuild the city's two swimming pools, South Troy and Knickerbacker, which have been closed for the past two summers.

The South Troy project could go out to bid next year, and Knickerbacker, by 2020 at the earliest.

There's also money in the budget to pay for body cameras for police officers.
