The holiday season officially comes to Albany Friday afternoon.
The Empire State Plaza Ice Rink opens for the season at 4:30 p.m., and is free.
Skaters can enjoy music from Grand Central Station between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m..
The rink open from noon-8 p.m., seven days a week, as always, weather permitting.
Meanwhile, the city holds its tree lighting ceremony in front of Albany City Hall at 5 p.m..
City Hall will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., offering refreshments, crafts and music.
A free CDTA trolley will shuttle people between City Hall, the Ft. Orange General Store, and the Arcade Building.
The state's tree lighting ceremony and fireworks show at the Plaza is set for Sunday. Events begin at 1 p.m.
