State Lawmakers Getting a Big Raise

Pay Raise

After nearly two decades, it looks like state lawmakers are finally going to get their raise, and it'll be a big one.

A special Compensation Committee has voted to hike the base pay for members of the Senate and Assembly by more than 60%.

It'll take effect in increments, with an annual salary of $130,000 by 2021.

Meanwhile, the panel is calling for an end to leadership stipends, known as "lulus," and a cap on outside income of $19, 500.

The raises would take effect in January.
