Albany Police Chase Ends With Suspect Crashing Into Police Vehicle

Albany Police Chase

A police chase that started on the Dunn Memorial Bridge Thursday night ended with a Hyundai Santa Fe crashing into a Rensselaer Police SUV near the Times-Union Center.

Authorities say this began around 9 pm when someone drove away from a DUI checkpoint on the bridge.

Albany Police, Rensselaer Police, and State Troopers joined in pursuit.

At one point, police say the vehicle was going in the wrong direction through the tunnels underneath the Plaza.

It ended near Market and South Pearl Street in downtown Albany where it collided with the Rensselaer Police vehicle.

No word yet on the driver's name or what charges might be filed.
