There was a big crowd Monday night at a safety and security forum in Saratoga Springs.
A number of parents have been upset since the school district disarmed 14 grounds monitors this past summer.
Now, an independent group says the school district has good practices in place when it comes to security, although it does recommend hiring a school resource officer for the middle school.
However, some parents say that's not enough.
A group calling itself Parents for Safer Schools either wants officers at every school, or the grounds monitors re-armed.
The city's Assistant Police Chief, John Catone, told the board Monday night he doesn't feel the schools are as safe as they were, saying disarming the monitors was an "overreaction" to a problem that didn't exist.
Weapons were taken away from the grounds monitors earlier this year after the superintendent found that it was not in line with state law.
The board later upheld that decision.
