A state senator has apologized for what he called a "poor choice of words" after sending a tweet to a legislative staffer urging her to essentially commit suicide.
Democrat Kevin Parker of Brooklyn sent a tweet saying "Kill Yourself" to Republican aide Candice Giove after Giove accused Parker of misusing a Senate parking placard in Manhattan.
Parker deleted the tweet, but not before someone took a screenshot of the abusive message and circulated it.
Parker later sent a tweet apology to Giove, saying suicide should not be made light of.
The Senate's incoming leader, Democrat Andrea Stewart-Cousins, said she was "disappointed" by Parker's tweet.
