After an Albany County grand jury opted not to indict Detective James Olsen for the police-involved shooting of 19-year-old Ellazar Williams back in August, a community group is launching a petition drive to have DA David Soares drop menacing and weapons charges against him.
Williams was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Jacqui Williams is with the Capital Area Against Mass Incarceration group, and says she believes it's a conflict of interest for Soares to prosecute both men
Meanwhile, the Director of Albany's Center for Law and Justice, Alice Green, says people still have a lot of questions.
Many people at Wednesday night's forum believe Soares should have asked for a special prosecutor to handle the case.
Attorneys for Ellazar Williams have filed a lawsuit against Olsen and two other officers who were involved in the incident
