With a New Year Comes a New Attorney General for New York State

New York State begins 2019 with a new attorney general.

Letitia James took the oath of office in Albany.

In doing so, she becomes the first African American woman to hold statewide office.

Her predecessor, Barbara Underwood, was appointed in May when Eric Schneiderman resigned.

Underwood chose to no seek election and has now returned to her former position as state solicitor general.
