Troy Drug Unit Being Restored After 2017 Cancellation

Illegal Drugs

Troy police are in the process of restoring the city's drug unit, after it was dissolved last year.

Former chief John Tedesco eliminated the unit after an illegal raid of a home in 2017.

Two officers pleaded guilty to misconduct charges in the aftermath of that incident.

Now, officials say a new team of about six investigators will be re-established in the spring, with a focus on street level drugs and illegal guns.
