Albany Cop Involved in Utica Shooting Suspended Without Pay

An Albany police officer involved in a deadly shooting during off-duty hours has been suspended.

Officer Christofer Kitto has been suspended from the force effective immediately and without pay.

He was involved in a fatal shooting in Utica Monday morning, where police there say Kitto shot and killed Shatelle Hooks of Syracuse after Hooks came at Kitto with a knife and tried to steal money. 

Utica Police deemed the shooting justified, but did charge Kitto with patronizing a prostitute.

Albany Police also conducting an internal investigation.
