Cohoes Mayor Facing Challenge From Retired State Police Major

Shawn Morse

It looks like Cohoes mayor Shawn Morse is going to face a Democratic primary challenge.

Retired State Police Major Bill Keeler, a life-long resident of Cohoes, is expected to announce his candidacy Tuesday.

He retired from the State Police in 2016 after 30 years in Law Enforcement.

Last October, Keeler was appointed to the Cohoes Industrial Development Agency as the vice chairman.

A month later the IDA voted to remove Morse as its executive director.

Morse has faced allegations of physical abuse and the FBI is reportedly looking into his campaign finances.

Morse announced he's running for re-election last week.
