Cuomo Seeks to Outlaw Public Release of Mugshot Photos

Governor Cuomo is now seeking to ban mugshots and booking information from being released by law enforcement agencies when they make an arrest. The Governor says that websites make people pay exorbitant fees to have their mugshots taken down even if charges are later dropped.

Critics say the bill is written so poorly that it will keep arrest records from ever being made public.

The ban would not extend to pictures of suspects being released when law enforcement is seeking help from the public.
