Criminal Charges Dropped Against Former Troy Cop

Dominick Comitale

Criminal charges have been dropped against a former Troy Police officer.

Dominick Comitale entered a not guilty plea last month to assault and harassment charges stemming from an altercation at a little league field in North Greenbush.

Rensselaer County's new District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly dismissed the case Wednesday, saying former DA Joel Abelove didn't follow state requirements for a speedy trial.

Comitale, who was involved in four incidents that cost the city of Troy about $175,000 worth in settlements, resigned from the police force after his indictment.
