Boeing 767 Cargo Plane Crashes Near Houston

A Boeing 767 cargo plane run by Atlas Air crashed into the water about 30 miles from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport. There were three crew members on the plane and authorities said they did not survive.

The Federal Aviation Administration said air traffic controllers lost radar and radio contact with Atlas Air Flight 3591 shortly before 12:45 p.m. local time. The FAA said they have sent investigators to the crash site and that the National Transportation Safety Board will be in charge of the investigation.

Witnesses said that they saw the plane nose-dive before crashing into the water. The water is filled with debris from the plane and investigators could spend weeks at the site looking for clues as to what caused the jet to crash.
